We Lost Our Mascot
We lost our dog Jack on Sunday evening, and needless to say, this has been an incredibly grief-stricken ending to an already difficult year. Jack was my first dog and one of the great loves of my life. My daily companion, protector, source of happiness and laughter, workout buddy, and honestly, the inspiration and motivation to continue my work in animal welfare, protection and education.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
He was the perfect poster dog to undo the negative stereotypes that these beautiful animals have been unfairly saddled with. The numerous messages I have received from people have proved that he was effective not only with changing perceptions but also with inspiring people to adopt the “underdog”.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I will continue to bring light to the plights that our fellow animals face and I will continue to offer suggestions, solutions, options and information to honor his life. After all, he has been my inspiration for close to 13 years.

2020 has been terrible, but the one thing it allowed me to do was spend real time with my elderly dog and care for him the way he needed to be cared for. And for that, I feel truly lucky.
RIP Jack Utley. You are forever loved.
